I got a text from a friend of mine at the weekend. She was at home going through some stuff that she and her husband were no longer using. She remembered that we had been talking about what is best to listen to on the journey into work and the pro's and cons of the various possibilities of radio's, phone radio's, mp3 players and so on.
She had a Sony Walkman which was in perfect working order but which she no longer needed. She remembered our conversation and contacted me asking if I would like to have it. On our next day back to work I arrived to my desk to find my new ( previously loved) perfectly working Sony Walkman ......complete with red earphones AND new batteries. I wasn't the only one to benefit from her thoughtfulness ...........someone else was offered a webcam .............someone else a pair of headphones. The point is she didn't have to bother to take this time and trouble ...................she could have just taken the easy option and thrown the stuff in the bin but she didn't do that. She did the planet a favour by making the effort to recycle these items and extend their useful lives............but she also really made my day!. |
